Motivation:
A large part of this course is devoted to encouraging students to take ownership of their own learning. In order to thrive as a technologist, we must feel comfortable taking on new topics and learning them deeply. Additionally, we are working to create a collaborative intellectual community in this class and we can help each other by sharing what we’ve learned.

With that in mind, students will help teach some of the content for this class. Each student will sign up for a topic that they will be responsible for learning and sharing with the class. While signing up, think about:

  • what do you already know that may benefit your peers? Are you really good with a certain design tool or technology? Do you have experience with some type of data that you have insights on?
  • what would you like to learn better? Is there a topic you have been curious about understanding for a while? Take this opportunity to do a deep dive into a new domain and share what you’ve learned.
  • what subjects or tools would be beneficial to your career and interests? Is there an industry/domain you are hoping to break into? What types of technologies do you need to be fluent in in order to do that?

Each session will be roughly 15 minutes long and could take any of the following forms:

  • presentation (powerpoint, google slides, canva, etc.)
  • Observable notebook you walk through
  • live demo (coding, workflow)
  • class activity
  • suggest something new!
